Well, apparently, I’ve been over-burdening my friends with requests to entertain me via their blogs, so I’m stuck doing it myself. You know who you are.
It’s been a crazy couple of weeks, and I’m sorry I haven’t kept up with my entries, but I have lots of excuses. (I am the Queen of Excuses, let me just say!).
First of all, I finished up my YA proposal and turned it in to my agent. Can’t wait to hear what she thinks…and more important can’t wait to see if it sells. I think it will, if I do say so myself. It has a great premise that no one I know of has ever seen done in this format (YA), though I’ve seen the topic used in a couple of adult fiction formats. I just put more of a paranormal twist on it (not tell you what “it” is, you notice?) and wrote it for teens. I was very happy with the way it turned out.
Secondly, I talked to my editor last week about the second book in the Super Secret Title Trilogy (sequel to VENUS ENVY). She had a few suggestions upon reading the synopsis and we hashed over a few details. I think it’s going to be great working with an editor from the very beginning! Fewer edits in the end, hopefully, because some of the things I would have worked in throughout the whole book are now changed at the beginning. No need to go back and try to pick up all the threads and change them in 400+ already-written pages, since I’ll have “fixed” them in the first place. I’m loving this plan!! Next step is to actually get this puppy sold and contracted, which should be any day now. Then, I’ll spill the beans about the title. In the meantime, I’ll be editing what I’ve already started to make it fit the changes we made, and work out some more of the details.
I took last week off of writing and got some housecleaning done. Can’t decorate for Christmas without a major overhaul of certain things. Got a lot done, but never enough. Trying to decide whether to continue to work on that tomorrow or not…after all, I already took yesterday off to get a lot of my Christmas shopping done. What’s one more day, right? Only in writer-land, allowing yourself too much time off can be the beginning of a really nasty habit.
Um…in other news, we bought our first new mattress and boxsprings in 15 years! That’s major news in our house, but I had determined that my body was aging faster at night due to the crappy quality of the old mattress, and that, while I may be only 40 in age-years, I was actually more like 80 in body-years. Hopefully the new (and very comfortable!) mattress will realign all the misaligned parts and reverse the aging process.
Well, this was completely un-entertaining, I’m sure. I haven’t been thinking in terms of blogs lately, so I got nothing any more exciting than that. I’m off to try to organize some tax stuff so I’m not slammed with it in a few months when I’m hopefully deep in the writing of one (or maybe even TWO) books. May as well take care of the tedious tasks in my off-time, wouldn’t you agree?
Ta-ta for now!!
