While I would be lying to say I didn’t miss being at the RWA National Conference last week, I have to say I am extremely proud of what I got done at home. I read a lot, finished plotting my book (with Serena’s help), completely outlined the book for reference while I write it, wrote the synopsis and about 10-12 pages. So, I did a lot…a lot that I would NOT have done if I’d been at the conference.
So, I have to think of it in terms of which furthered my goal of getting another book sold. I think I came out ahead by staying at home. If I’d gone to conference, even if I networked my butt off, I would still have been at the point of floudering about this book…what was it about, where was I going with it. And, now, I’m not.
Sometimes it’s NOT about networking or marketing or revitalizig or, um, socializing. Sometimes it’s about sitting your butt in the chair and writing. At least that’s what I’m telling myself so I don’t feel bad about missing all the fun.
But, on the other hand, I completely, utterly, and truly believe it, too.
